It all started when I was at school. My friends had bought and played this game and were always talking about it. Me being pissed off at not knowing what the fuck they meant had enough and bought the game. I would have started playing there but first I needed a CC. Which as it turns out isn't easy. I believe it took me about 5-6 months to finally get a CC and play.
So one day during school, my friends and I decide to skip and go set me up in the world of Vana'deil.(Did I spell that right?) For months I had planned on being a Tarutaru from Windurst and my name was going to be Psychomouse. Sadly, the name was taken. So Marajade, Lenneth, and myself sat around for about 20 mins contemplating new names for a char.
Finally Marajade suggested I pick a name from my Fire Emblem game. Me being a huge fan of the game at the time thought it was a great idea. So after going through a list of the names in my head I landed on a small dragon girl named Myrrh. Since we couldn't name a Tarutaru after a kick ass dragon girl we decided to make me a Mithra. After that we input the world pass.(Back in the day SE had these codes in order to pick a server. Unlike today where you can pick anything you want.)
Myrrh the Mithra from Windurst was born.
During my 5-6 month wait I had gone over what job I wanted. I had picked Whitemage. I liked being Whm. The idea of healing someone and not hurting was a good idea to me. I was a pacifist when I joined. I hated doing things harm and I was happy being a Whm.
For my first journey in FFXI Marajade was playing as Myrrh to show me how the world works. He showed me the Auction House, Mog House, and Various other goodies in the nation of Windurst. After I got bored of seeing him walk around town I told him to show me how to get Exp. We went out though Windurst Woods and fought a few monsters. I was in Aw with how cool this was looking.
Marajade was doing a pretty decent job soloing me some exp at the start. But after he fought a tough Bee he didn't want to rest to get my Hp/Mp back to full. He ran in head first and fought a Mandy. It was going well till the Mandy used a Regen move and any dmg Mara did was pretty much worthless.
Myrrh died.
I wasn't too pleased to have died within the first 30 mins of joining FFXI. After he died I decided to call it a day for Myrrh and go home and test it out.
When I got home my good friend Lenneth told me he'd help me out with some starter gil. That was pretty cool of him. When he met me in Windurst and he was in this red version of the lvl 1 Mithra RSE gear. I was thinking that's pretty cool. So he traded me 2,500 gil. I was thinking I was rich considering how much low lvl gear that could buy me. He also traded me a Linkshell pearl to a Linkshell called "LegionOfOne"

Meanie, Ketsurui, Milgard, Hillzpac(Our leader), Mitsuhide, Realina, Bloodscream, Pryman, and so many others who quit and I forgot their names >_<
After Lenneth set me up I headed out on my own. After soloing a while I met my first ingame friend. His name was Thorny. He was a very nice guy and we duo'd exp for a bit in Giddeus. We were duoing for a while when a nice high lvl came along and PL'd us while we fought a Yagudo NM. It dropped a crappy low lvl shield that I won the lot on.
I kept it till I hit 75. That shield was from my very first NM.
So, after we fought the NM the nice high lvl player asked if we wanted to see Bastok. We both said sure and he escorted us. Along the way we had some aggro and the high lvl was handling it. At this time I didn't know what macros were and the high lvl was using them when we aggro'd.
Every battle I'd see "Para
We got to Bastok and my very first thought was "That's it?!" After we got there the high lvl person had to leave. Me being unimpressed and really tired logged for the night.
Fast forward to lvl 50.
I was in need of my G1 items. I had gotten the coal from a kind person soloing in the Basement of Citadel. I only needed two more and I could lvl to 55. I don't remember how I got my Crawlers Nest item exactly. With two down I only needed a Paper. It had a low drop rate off Skeletons in a place that to this day I still can't spell. A good friend from LegionOfOne had put aside a few hours to help me get it.
We get there, he kills one Skeleton and it drops. I was laughing so hard. Everyone I talked to said the paper was the hardest to get and it took them hours/days.
With G1 done, I could work on my AF gear for Whm.
The first few parts were pretty easy. I remember the only 2 I had issues with were the Body and Hat.
Two very good friends of mine helped me get everything I needed for the body. First we needed to get a bell off Shadows in the same place that drops papers for g1. I remember this took me about a week to get. Teppo and Nibble just wouldn't quit till I got it. After we had that done we had to fight one of the hardest AF NMs in the game. Teppo and Nibble had gotten a Japanese friend to help them fight the NM for me. The whole walk there he was talking about how he wanted my Mithra fun hole and it was very weird.
Well, they kicked the NMs ass. Some of his moves nearly killed us but I was on the ball with my all my cures.
With that done I could focus on getting my AF hat. I hated this AF quest so much. Since I was low lvl I had to have Sneak/Invis up everywhere. I had spent a good few weeks trying to get my Coffer key for this item. First my friends helped me. Then I had to hire Jps to get it for me when no one wanted to go back there. It was a bitch. But finally after weeks and about 500k later I had gotten my key..... Now all I needed to do was open the chest. Crap.
Finding it was just about as hard as getting the key. I knew very little of the place and travel was restricted due to the doors that needed 4 people to open them. After a while I had finally got my AF hat which at the time was pretty decent compared to anything else I could use. I was happy. I had finally finished the set and I looked liked a real Whm. I was very happy.
After that it was just basic lvling till I needed my Noble's Tunic. Once I hit lvl 67 I stopped all lvling. I did not want to continue and be gimped. I had spent a few weeks Tele whoring around Lower Jeuno. I got lucky a few times and got 50k for a tele and then one person was quiting, when he heard that I was trying to save up he gave me 1m for a teleport. I was shocked to say the least. After some time I had finally saved the 8million gil I needed for a Noble's Tunic. I was jumping for joy to have one of the best pieces of gear a Whm could ever use.
When that was done I took my sweet time lvling to 75 since I wasn't in a hurry for anything. I had joined a few new LS once LegionOfOne died out. It just wasn't the same. With Legion I could swear, make gay jokes, and so much more. I was new to these ls with "Rules" I was told to tune it down a lot. But I still had fun. I couldn't be my vulgar self. :(
After Whm was lvled and 2 years had past I decided to take Smn to 75. It went alot easier then Whm. If I ever needed something I could solo it on Whm(cept Avatars), I hated to rely on other people and preferred to solo. That way if I had fucked up I could call myself a dipshit but still expect me to help myself later on.
That's my update. I figured since no one knew how I started it would be a good change. I would have posted my current FFXI status but I haven't really done anything. I've been doing Dynamis as normal, Assault as normal, and pretty much just staring at my MH wall.
